  • Ready for immediate use, technically and visually, in good condition

Vehicle History

In contrast to the Willys Jeep, the Land Rover is not a military vehicle but a purely civilian child. After the Second World War, British farmers and exporters wanted a workhorse that could go anywhere and do anything—a universal Land Rover, developed and produced by the established British manufacturer Rover. With its unbeatable concept and unique charisma, the off-road vehicle became a million-seller for decades and the foundation of the Land Rover brand.

The Landy on offer here is an early example of Series IIa from 1961, with the headlights still mounted next to the radiator grille. The suffix LR 88 refers to the short wheelbase of 88 inches. The Landy is equipped for many tasks and conveniently has a trailer coupling at the rear and a cable winch at the front, which can be used to get out of critical situations off-road or to pull a tree out of the undergrowth. Not much is known about the vehicle's history, except that it spent much of its life on a farm in sunny Spain with a German license plate and was completely restored a few years ago. The current owner loves his Landy more than anything but faces a significant dilemma. It's not just the classic reason for lack of space in the garage holding him back; worse still, two important family members don't want to share the love for this beautiful classic. It's not just the wife who keeps resisting the choice of vehicle for the summer outing; the much-loved family dog also seems to have a real Landy aversion and doesn't want to come along for the ride. With great inner protest and an anticipatory sense of loss, the owner now offers the Land Rover LR88 for sale to save the family’s peace.

Exterior & Interior

The Land Rover is in good condition both inside and out. It is a left-hand drive vehicle delivered in Europe in the classic color ‘Pastel Light Green Solid.’ As a two-door pickup, it can be driven either completely open, with a tarpaulin roof, or with a hardtop bolted on. A narrow third seat is fitted between the driver's and passenger's seats so three people can have fun in the front. Behind this is a loading area with lengthways shelves, which can also be used as additional seats. The vehicle was completely restored a few years ago and, since then, has only been driven by enthusiasts on short journeys in good weather. The paintwork is in good condition and shows no damage or rust apart from slight traces and a barely visible small area of additional paint on the front wheel cut-out. As part of the restoration, the seats were reupholstered, and the storage compartments and loading area were relined. Everything is in excellent condition for a Land Rover. The tarpaulin roof is as good as new.

Technical condition

The Land Rover shown here has a Mercedes diesel of the /8 series. As standard Rover engines often cause problems, this is a popular and sought-after conversion due to lower repair and maintenance costs and fuel consumption. The engine runs quietly and economically. Engaging four-wheel drive and off-road reduction provide the Land Rover with the necessary traction. The transmission shifts smoothly through all gears, and the reduction can be employed if required. During the restoration, the entire technology was also overhauled. The box frame is also in good condition and not rotten like many other examples.

All operating and equipment elements work, including steering, brakes, electrics, and lighting. A new general inspection is due in spring 2025, but it will be renewed if the vehicle is sold. A corresponding classic car certificate, a prerequisite for H registration, is available. The vehicle is visually and technically in good condition and is immediately ready to drive.

The vehicle is being offered on behalf of a customer.

FAQ

To bid, you must register as a bidder. The registration process on HeartBids also includes registering with our free escrow. To protect our users and to comply with EU legal requirements, your identity must be verified during this process. HeartBids adheres to the highest privacy standards and never publicly shares information from the identity verification process. We only share whether the verification was successful.

With an instant bid, the amount entered is immediately confirmed as a bid. This means you can make large bid increments without numerous lower bids in between.

Absentee bidding allows you to set a maximum bid up to which bids are automatically placed for you. In this case, the absentee bid always increases by the current minimum bid. Absentee bids are especially interesting if you can not actively participate at the end of an auction and want to bid in absentia.

Please note that if there are several identical highest bids, the bidder who placed their bid first will get the bid!
The minimum bids increment depending on the status of the auction. Up to 50.000,00 €, the minimum bid is 250 €. Between 50.001 € to 100.000 €, it is 500 € and from 100.001 € the minimum bid is 1.000 €.
After you win an auction, our escrow will ask you via email to deposit the vehicle price and the commission into the escrow account. The account is automatically set up and for this transaction only. Simultaneously, you can contact the seller and arrange the vehicle transfer. The escrow will inform the seller as soon as you have deposited the money. At this moment, a 14-day payout period begins, after which the money is automatically paid out to the seller unless you object to the payout. If you need a more extended payout period, e.g., because of long transportation, you can stop the automatic payout. However, you are obliged to release the money as soon as you receive the vehicle, and it matches the description.
The buyer's commission is 6% (incl. 19% VAT) of the auction proceeds or at least 600€ (incl. 19% VAT). With increasing auction results, the percentage of the commission drops. The exact amount of commission can be found in our pricing overview
Added value for buyers:

The trust-based payment process takes place step by step, thereby preventing you from being left with no money or goods at the end of the day or paying for something that you did not order or commission. With an escrow agent, you can be sure that your contract partner endeavors to carry out the basic business quickly and to your satisfaction.

When you hand over your vehicle in person, you do not have to make a detour to your bank to withdraw cash and transport it from A to B - you just pay on delivery quickly and easily with one click

Added value for sellers

. You do not have to take any financial advance risk. The buyer or customer pays the agreed price (also partial or partial payments possible) before you ship the vehicle. Once the money has been deposited into the escrow account, the buyer won't receive the money without your consent.
