The XJ can be regarded as the last design by William Lyons, the founder of Jaguar. The first generation of the British luxury sedan, the XJ 6, was introduced in 1968 with a six-cylinder in-line engine. In 1973, with the Series II and 1979, with the Series III, Jaguar's most successful model series underwent extensive model upgrades.
The XJ 12 with a twelve-cylinder V-engine was added in 1972 and enjoyed great popularity for 15 years—until the appearance of the BMW 750i—as the only four-door passenger car model with a twelve-cylinder engine on the German market. Production of the XJ Series III with a V12 engine was finally discontinued in 1992.
The Jaguar offered here, built in 1991, was one of the last to be produced. It is unlikely that a more authentic example can be found in such good original condition and with a more transparent history than the vehicle offered here in the incredibly vibrant, majestic color “Westminster Blue” with a chic, light beige interior. Upon delivery, the classy British sports saloon went directly into the hands of the current owner, a renowned dentist. The vehicle has always been treated with the necessary attention and care. It has always been well looked after and only used as a collector's car for special occasions.
In the early years, the Jaguar was regularly serviced by a specialist dealer and received the necessary care. Later, it was serviced by a renowned, independent Jaguar workshop in the region.
The owner is now well-deservedly retired and has increasingly focused his life on southern climes. He would, therefore, like to downsize his fleet and pass the carefully maintained Englishman on to another appreciative enthusiast.
The vehicle is extensively equipped, reflecting the luxury of an upper-class limousine of the early nineties, and presents itself in excellent original technical and visual condition. The car is accident-free and still has its original paintwork all around. In addition to the luxurious amenities such as air conditioning, electric sunroof, stereo system with CD changer in the trunk, and several other features, the Jaguar has a very special optional extra: a flagpole on the chrome of the front bumper, which allows a flag to be displayed, be it at weddings or on stately occasions.
The excellent care taken by the only owner to date and the Jaguar specialists he commissioned is evident in every detail. The paintwork, chrome parts, bodywork, wheels, interior, wood paneling, seats, headliner, and carpet set are in very good, original condition, without any damage or traces of inattentive use over the decades.
The vehicle starts and drives without any complaints. Even after decades, the silky smooth running of the twelve-cylinder engine is still impressive. The automatic transmission shifts smoothly and evenly. The chassis enables the vehicle to be driven quickly and comfortably. The steering, brakes, electrics, air conditioning, lighting system, and stereo work perfectly. A recent general inspection revealed no defects. A classic car certificate, which is required for H registration, is also available. The Jaguar XJ12 presents itself elegantly and sportily and is in exceptional original condition, visually and technically. The vehicle is now looking for a new proud owner who wants to take it over and enjoy using it.
