Vehicle History

When the spectacular Jaguar E-Type was presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 1961, it became the new icon of British sports car manufacturing. It was available as a 2- and 2+2-seater coupé as well as an attractive roadster (also known as an OTS or 'Open Two Seater'). After ten years of production with a 6-cylinder engine, the US version of the E-Type received a newly developed V12 engine with a displacement of 5343 cc and an output of 268 hp in 1971. With this V12, Jaguar presented the first large-scale production twelve-cylinder engine with a light-alloy block. Although the V12 engine compensated for the loss of power due to US legislation, the vehicle was no longer as aggressive overall. It changed its character in the direction of a comfortable cruiser and touring sports car. The Roadster now also had the long wheelbase of the 2+2, but the short Coupé was no longer available. Due to the wider track width and the wider tires, the Series 3 was given wider fenders, giving it a somewhat beefier overall appearance. The improved disc brakes were now ventilated at the front.

The beautiful Series 3 Roadster offered here initially drove in a Sunshine State in the USA and was imported to Germany a few years ago by its current owner. In 2020, it was completely restored in a workshop specializing in British classics. As the owner's circumstances have changed and he now lives mainly in the UK, the impressive open-top British sports car is now for sale as a left-hand drive vehicle with a German license plate and is set to please another enthusiast in the future.

Exterior & Interior

Since its complete restoration, the E-Type has been part of a collection in a dry and temperature-controlled garage and has only been driven a little and only in good weather. It is, therefore, in excellent condition both inside and out. The paintwork in the bright red original color lets the roadster shine in all its glory and shows no scratches, damage, or traces of rust. Even on closer inspection, the chrome plating is above average, from the mighty radiator grille and window frames to the bumpers and the four-pipe exhaust. The car also shows its best side in the interior. The seats were reupholstered as part of the restoration. They are in excellent condition with no visible signs of wear, stains, or tears. The dashboard, the side panels, the carpets in the interior and the trunk, and the beige soft top also look very good and require no further care.

The roadster rolls on beautiful classic spoke rims, fitted with well-profiled Michelin 215/70 VR 15 tires throughout.

A practical, chrome-plated luggage rack on the trunk lid complements the flat luggage compartment and makes the E-Type the perfect touring car for longer spring, summer, or fall vacations.

Technical Condition

The vehicle also benefits in technical terms from the recent restoration, during which the entire mechanical system was checked and overhauled. The roadster starts and drives smoothly. As expected, the twelve-cylinder engine impresses with its smooth running and superior power delivery. The automatic transmission shifts smooth as silk. All equipment and operating elements, as well as the steering, brakes, electrics, and lights, work perfectly and without any complaints. The last general inspection was carried out without any complaints. A corresponding classic car certificate, a prerequisite for H registration, is available.

The vehicle is visually and technically in excellent condition and can be used immediately by the new buyer.

The vehicle is being offered on behalf of the owner.

FAQ

To bid, you must register as a bidder. The registration process on HeartBids also includes registering with our free escrow. To protect our users and to comply with EU legal requirements, your identity must be verified during this process. HeartBids adheres to the highest privacy standards and never publicly shares information from the identity verification process. We only share whether the verification was successful.

With an instant bid, the amount entered is immediately confirmed as a bid. This means you can make large bid increments without numerous lower bids in between.

Absentee bidding allows you to set a maximum bid up to which bids are automatically placed for you. In this case, the absentee bid always increases by the current minimum bid. Absentee bids are especially interesting if you can not actively participate at the end of an auction and want to bid in absentia.

Please note that if there are several identical highest bids, the bidder who placed their bid first will get the bid!
The minimum bids increment depending on the status of the auction. Up to 50.000,00 €, the minimum bid is 250 €. Between 50.001 € to 100.000 €, it is 500 € and from 100.001 € the minimum bid is 1.000 €.
After you win an auction, our escrow will ask you via email to deposit the vehicle price and the commission into the escrow account. The account is automatically set up and for this transaction only. Simultaneously, you can contact the seller and arrange the vehicle transfer. The escrow will inform the seller as soon as you have deposited the money. At this moment, a 14-day payout period begins, after which the money is automatically paid out to the seller unless you object to the payout. If you need a more extended payout period, e.g., because of long transportation, you can stop the automatic payout. However, you are obliged to release the money as soon as you receive the vehicle, and it matches the description.
The buyer's commission is 6% (incl. 19% VAT) of the auction proceeds or at least 600€ (incl. 19% VAT). With increasing auction results, the percentage of the commission drops. The exact amount of commission can be found in our pricing overview
Added value for buyers:

The trust-based payment process takes place step by step, thereby preventing you from being left with no money or goods at the end of the day or paying for something that you did not order or commission. With an escrow agent, you can be sure that your contract partner endeavors to carry out the basic business quickly and to your satisfaction.

When you hand over your vehicle in person, you do not have to make a detour to your bank to withdraw cash and transport it from A to B - you just pay on delivery quickly and easily with one click

Added value for sellers

. You do not have to take any financial advance risk. The buyer or customer pays the agreed price (also partial or partial payments possible) before you ship the vehicle. Once the money has been deposited into the escrow account, the buyer won't receive the money without your consent.
