The Austin Healey Sprite Mark I, also affectionately known as Frogeye due to the arrangement of its headlights, is a compact, sturdy British roadster. Despite its small four-cylinder engine with an output of just 65 hp and a kerb weight of 650 kg, it is a genuine sports car and a lot of fun to drive.
When it came onto the market in 1958, many components were taken from other models for cost reasons, such as the engine and gearbox from the Austin A 35 and the steering and brakes from the Morris Minor. Fortunately, this means that spare parts are readily available today.
The black bodywork suits this beautiful example perfectly and gives it the sporty look of a small AC Cobra. The sand beige seats do not heat up too much, even in the blazing sun. Another highlight in the interior is the chic wooden Moto Lita steering wheel. Matching the bodywork, the roadster rolls on sporty Minilite rims with grippy 165/70 R15 Kleber Vixen tires.
Unfortunately, not much is known about the history of this likable little roadster. The current owner discovered it a few years ago at a classic car show, immediately fell in love with it, and added it to the family collection for his wife. The decision has now been made to pass it on to other enthusiasts, as it is no longer driven as often, and the next generation has different desires.
The future owner can be sure of one thing: no matter where he takes it, young and old alike will immediately fall in love with it.
The Austin-Healey is in excellent condition both inside and out. It was entirely restored by the previous owner a few years ago. It has been kept in a dry garage ever since and is only occasionally driven by its owners for short trips on lovely summer days. The paintwork and the chrome are in excellent condition and show no signs of damage or rust. The entire interior, from the dashboard to the side panels and the seats in robust faux leather, is impeccable, with no cracks, damage, or significant signs of wear. The carpets are also in good condition and require no further care or replacement. The vehicle is also fitted with a beige tarpaulin and has a well-preserved soft top in the storage space behind the seats.
The vehicle starts well and drives excellently. The gearbox shifts smoothly through all gears, and the steering and brakes work perfectly. All equipment and controls, including the electrics and lighting, work perfectly. The last general inspection was carried out without any complaints. A corresponding classic car certificate, a prerequisite for H registration, is available.
The vehicle is visually and technically in very good condition and is ready for immediate use.
The vehicle is being offered on behalf of a customer.
