Vehicle History

The Alfa Romeo Spider is one of history's longest continuously built convertibles. When the aging Giulia Spider was replaced in the mid-1960s, the strongly rounded rear of its successor, the Duetto, also known as the round-tail Spider, was not to everyone's taste. For this reason, a revised version with a shortened, straight rear, the so-called Fastback, was launched in 1969. For over 14 years, this embodied the affordable benchmark, combining sportiness, elegance, comfort, Italian flair, and dolce vita. To this day, the classic Spider has lost absolutely nothing of its timeless appeal and desirability and is one of the most beautiful forms of open-top driving.

The model offered here is a highly sought-after example built in the first half of the 1983 production year. It was one of the last with the beautiful straight rear end before the unpopular rubber lip was fitted as standard to the tailgate in the second half of the year, severely impairing the Spider's elegant lines.

This Alfa is the version with the most powerful 2-liter engine available at the time, with 126 hp, even though one of the previous owners made the joke of attaching a 1300cc badge. To this day, no one has corrected this serious visual understatement of the available driving dynamics.

The beautiful Alfa Romeo has been owned by the same circle of friends for over thirty years and has only been passed on twice when priorities or space in the garage changed accordingly.

Everyone treated it well, and it was serviced by the classic car specialist when necessary. It was always kept dry and was only used for the odd short summer or weekend trip when the weather was nice. The longest-known trip was a visit to the start of the legendary Mille Miglia in Brescia. The convertible never had to endure heavy rain or even winter use.

Exterior & Interior

In accordance with its careful use, the Alfa is in surprisingly good original condition. The paintwork, chrome, and sheet metal look good. The soft top is also in immaculate condition. Despite its age, there are no significant signs of wear or damage to either the exterior or interior. The interior fittings, such as the seats and side panels, are covered with hard-wearing black leatherette and show no cracks, and the carpets are still in equally good condition.

Technical Condition

The vehicle has a relatively low mileage for its age and is in good overall condition, both visually and technically. The seller reports that the engine starts reliably, runs smoothly, has a good throttle response, and pulls away powerfully. The transmission shifts smoothly through all gears. All equipment, controls, steering, brakes, electrics, and lighting work perfectly. The vehicle is fitted with good 195/70 R14 Pirelli P3000 tires. A general inspection was recently carried out without any complaints. A classic car certificate, a prerequisite for a German historic registration, is also available.

According to the owner, the vehicle is accident-free, unwelded, and still in its original paintwork. It is in an amazingly good, authentic original condition and has no known optical or technical defects. Turn the key and enjoy!

The vehicle is being offered on behalf of the owner.

FAQ

To bid, you must register as a bidder. The registration process on HeartBids also includes registering with our free escrow. To protect our users and to comply with EU legal requirements, your identity must be verified during this process. HeartBids adheres to the highest privacy standards and never publicly shares information from the identity verification process. We only share whether the verification was successful.

With an instant bid, the amount entered is immediately confirmed as a bid. This means you can make large bid increments without numerous lower bids in between.

Absentee bidding allows you to set a maximum bid up to which bids are automatically placed for you. In this case, the absentee bid always increases by the current minimum bid. Absentee bids are especially interesting if you can not actively participate at the end of an auction and want to bid in absentia.

Please note that if there are several identical highest bids, the bidder who placed their bid first will get the bid!
The minimum bids increment depending on the status of the auction. Up to 50.000,00 €, the minimum bid is 250 €. Between 50.001 € to 100.000 €, it is 500 € and from 100.001 € the minimum bid is 1.000 €.
After you win an auction, our escrow will ask you via email to deposit the vehicle price and the commission into the escrow account. The account is automatically set up and for this transaction only. Simultaneously, you can contact the seller and arrange the vehicle transfer. The escrow will inform the seller as soon as you have deposited the money. At this moment, a 14-day payout period begins, after which the money is automatically paid out to the seller unless you object to the payout. If you need a more extended payout period, e.g., because of long transportation, you can stop the automatic payout. However, you are obliged to release the money as soon as you receive the vehicle, and it matches the description.
The buyer's commission is 6% (incl. 19% VAT) of the auction proceeds or at least 600€ (incl. 19% VAT). With increasing auction results, the percentage of the commission drops. The exact amount of commission can be found in our pricing overview
Added value for buyers:

The trust-based payment process takes place step by step, thereby preventing you from being left with no money or goods at the end of the day or paying for something that you did not order or commission. With an escrow agent, you can be sure that your contract partner endeavors to carry out the basic business quickly and to your satisfaction.

When you hand over your vehicle in person, you do not have to make a detour to your bank to withdraw cash and transport it from A to B - you just pay on delivery quickly and easily with one click

Added value for sellers

. You do not have to take any financial advance risk. The buyer or customer pays the agreed price (also partial or partial payments possible) before you ship the vehicle. Once the money has been deposited into the escrow account, the buyer won't receive the money without your consent.
